Terms of Service

Agreement

By using Blind Storage, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These terms apply to all users, including waitlist subscribers, beta participants, and paying customers.

Acceptable use

Blind Storage is built to protect privacy — for journalists, activists, businesses, and everyday people. You may use it for any lawful purpose consistent with that mission.

The following are strictly prohibited:

• ✕Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content that sexually exploits minors
• ✕Planning, promoting, or financing terrorism or violent extremism
• ✕Human trafficking, slavery, or exploitation of persons
• ✕Storing data stolen through unauthorized access to computer systems
• ✕Distributing malware, ransomware, or tools designed for unauthorized system access
• ✕Evading lawful sanctions or international embargoes
• ✕Fraud, money laundering, or financing criminal activity

While our zero-knowledge architecture prevents us from inspecting file content, we will terminate accounts where prohibited use is established through other means (metadata, legal process, or credible reports). See our ethics framework for our full position.

Zero-knowledge disclaimer

Blind Storage uses end-to-end encryption. Your passphrase is the only key to your data. If you lose your passphrase, we cannot recover your files. There is no password reset for encrypted content.

You are responsible for maintaining access to your passphrase and any recovery keys. We strongly recommend storing them in a password manager.

Account termination

You may delete your account at any time. We will delete your data within 30 days of account deletion.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. In non-emergency cases, we will provide notice before termination. We will never terminate an account solely because of the lawful, private content of encrypted files we cannot access.

Service availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We are not liable for data loss caused by service outages. You should maintain local copies of critical files. Our storage backend includes cross-region replication for paid tiers.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Blind Storage is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the three months preceding the claim.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will notify registered users by email at least 30 days before material changes take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
